Daydreaming about The Divide

Perry's Blog: September 22, 2014

When I see The Divide, I see lots of long, wide shots of the land, with the people very small in the frame. Right now, the script doesn’t have that, and it’s just one of the things we must be sure to include. I can play big chunks of the movie in my head – like rolling the film.

I suppose when I can play the whole movie, start to finish, I’ll be ready to start directing. I find myself daydreaming about the movie the way I might have mooned over a girlfriend 50 years ago; I can hardly think about anything else. Everything I encounter in my day seems to lead me to thoughts of the characters or the story, and everything seems to lead to some moment of increased clarity about the story. In other words, I am having so damn much fun!
